Cystitis affects mainly women aged between 20 and 60, and its most frequent causes are: alteration of vaginal flora, cold and humidity, low insertion of the urethral meatus, chronic constipation, lack of lubrication, frequency of sexual intercourse, urinary retention and misuse of antibiotics.
To prevent this condition, there are several healthy measures you may implement:
- Drink one and a half litre of water a day.
- Urinate every three hours.
- Wear loose clothes and cotton underwear.
- Avoid constipation by eating a high-fibre diet.
In addition to all these, drink blueberry juice during meals. Regular intake of blueberry juice offers a good protection against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Blueberries contain flavonoids, anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins, which prevent infections by stopping Escherichia Coli bacteria from adhering to bladder cells. On top of that, blueberry juice reduces the probability of re-emerging antibiotic-resistant bacteria and has no side effects.
